IDER HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELING MISSION STATEMENT
The school counselors at Ider believe that our mission is to prepare every student socially, academically, and emotionally for present and future challenges. Students are provided with opportunities to gain an understanding of self and others, to participate in educational and occupational exploration, and to pursue career planning opportunities in an environment that is safe, caring, and encouraging. Counselors work in collaborative partnerships with students, educators, parents, and community members to empower students to reach their highest level as productive members of society.
The comprehensive school counseling and guidance program is a necessary element of the total educational program whereby students have opportunities for academic, career, and personal/social development. Counselors at Ider High School work with all students to address their needs through the implementation of a comprehensive, standards-based, developmental school counseling program. This work is differentiated by attention to age-specific developmental stages of student growth, and the needs, tasks and interests related to those stages. The comprehensive school counseling and guidance program at Ider is data-driven by student, parental, and faculty needs and does provide outcome-based accountability measures that align the school counseling and guidance program with the school’s overall academic mission.
The student can visit the counselor through a referral from an administrator, parent, staff or self-referral (The Counselor mailbox is in the office). However, I try to maintain an open door policy so if you need to see me, drop by at your convenience.
